Bruce Becker will always be remembered as a valued friend and crew member of Ay Caliente.
Bruce was an experienced sailor and brought a vigorous energy to the Ay Caliente campaign. His relentless efforts on main trim were
undoubtedly a positive contribution to the growth and progress of our sailing accomplishments.
As a person, Bruce made his mark amongst his sailing family. His contagious laughter is embedded forever in our memories, and his youthful
look of disbelief and surprise amused us time and time again.
The memories that he made with us are priceless, and it takes a man like Bruce to leave such an imprint in our hearts.
Bruce was a person who highly respected the views of others and who always had the time to stop to listen and contemplate those thoughts.
He was a man of traditional values and a man of his word. He accepted his responsibilities seriously and took them to heart. He was clearly
harder on himself than anyone else could ever be.
Bruce's high regard for the skipper of Ay Caliente was not overlooked and his respect for and attention to this vessel demonstrated his
understanding of what it really takes to be a dedicated sailor. His appreciation for being a part of this campaign was expressed repeatedly and
in no few words.
Bruce was a proud man and he was very proud of others. He taught us a valuable lesson, which I hope we reciprocated to him - that one must
seize the moment to express gratitude, admiration, and awe...
We are grateful to have had the honor to experience Bruce's existence for the last 2 years of his life and we are proud to call him a sail-mate.
We could never have laughed so hard if Bruce had not worn those smelly boots, or flushed the floater in the marina. We would not have seen
what it is like for someone to laugh so hard that tears ran from his eyes. We would not have known that someone could be so powerful and yet
so gentle, so playful and yet so deep.
Reliable, trustworthy, generous, a man of integrity - that was Bruce;
And for lack of a more meaningful thing to say, I leave you with this:
THE MOOSE IS LOOSE...
